Avenue Duluth
Culture, arts and heritage Leisure activities Architecture Outdoor Plateau-Mont-Royal and Mile End
A quaint cobblestone street lined with restaurants, microbreweries, cafés and boutiques, Duluth Avenue is ideal for an afternoon stroll or a lively night out. An array of restaurants can be found along this charming artery that extends across the Plateau from Mount Royal Park to Lafontaine Park. Here, it’s normal to walk along with a bottle of wine in hand: many restaurants are «Bring Your Own Wine». Like a Dutch “woonerf”, part of Duluth Avenue is a pedestrian paradise where it’s hard to say where the sidewalk ends and the street begins. Duluth Avenue owes its name to Daniel Greysolon, sieur Du Luth. A gendarme to the king, coureur de bois and explorer, he played a vital role in French colonial expansion to the west.
