It is where Montreal’s first Italian immigrants made a home for themselves in the 19th century. Today, the neighborhood offers beautiful buildings such as the inspiring Church of the Madonna della Difesa, showcasing Italian Renaissance architecture. The Casa d’Italia community cultural centre is a brilliant example of 1930s Art Deco style. Along Saint-Laurent Boulevard, the side streets, and stopping at the Jean-Talon Market, you truly feel like you're in Italy, surrounded by trattorias, cafes, groceries, and designer boutiques that exhibit the typical Italian refinement. In the summer, soccer and car racing are a way of life. In June, the Grand Prix reunites all sports car fans, while the entire neighborhood sets the table to party.
