Sleeping Beauty - Les Grands Ballets Canadiens
Festivals and events Leisure activities Arts Music Downtown
The story of Aurora and her slumbering fate is a tale that’s been told through the ages. Cursed to death by the scorned fairy, Carabosse, the princess’ life is saved by another fairy by having her fall asleep for 100 years, only to be woken by true love’s kiss. Les Grands Ballets Canadiens bring this touching story to life by returning to its origins. Choreographed by Marcia Haydée, this adaptation retains the essence of the 19th-century play by Marius Petipa, however, the role of Carabosse is more nuanced, balancing both good and evil, playing a central role in the story.
