Affectionately referred to as “the mountain” by Montrealers, the Mount Royal contains a rich ecology and an exceptional biodiversity. It has been a key witness to the evolution of the centre of the island of Montreal for the past 5000 years. The exhibition Our Moutain: Memories of Mount Royal tells the story of this emblematic place. Created to mark the bicentennial year of birth of the Mount Royal Park’s creator, American landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, (1822-1903), the exhibition focuses on the main issues that played a role in the mountain’s development and preservation efforts.
