Samuel De Champlain Bridge

Named in honor of Samuel De Champlain, the French explorer and navigator, the 'Father of New France,' this bridge is set to become Montreal’s new emblem. Stretching approximately 3.4 kilometers, it stands as one of the busiest bridges in North America and one of the widest in the world. Its sleek, elegant lines and outstanding architectural quality give it a distinctive visual identity. Constructed of steel and concrete, resembling a long silver ribbon, it majestically spans the St. Lawrence River. Aligned with the values of the community and visionaries in its design, the bridge features two three-lane traffic corridors, one lane reserved for the REM light rail, and a safe, multipurpose lane open year-round for cyclists and pedestrians.
