Central Station
The city Indoor Downtown
Construction was started on Montreal's Central Station in 1938, and it was inaugurated on July 14, 1943. Today, it connects Montreal with many Canadian cities and several American destinations. The station is located right downtown and gives users access to the city's pedestrian network. It also allows travellers to quickly get to hotels and all of Montreal's tourist attractions. Its concourse features a historical frieze that illustrates the lives of Canadians, their industries, leisure activities and dreams for the future. Along the bottom of the frieze are the lyrics to the Canadian national anthem. The Halles de la Gare shopping court offers a wide range of services, including restaurants, bakeries, a florist, etc.
