Souk MTL

This article was updated on November 10, 2023.

For its 19th edition, the SOUK, a major avant-garde and contemporary Montréal design showcase, makes a fresh start in a former textile factory at the heart of Mile-Ex’s Architects District. From November 29 to December 3, 2023, the crème de la crème of Montréal’s up-and-coming designers will come together in a new setting to showcase their wares in true SOUK fashion. In collaboration with Sid Lee Architecture, the SOUK will transform the floors of this vacant building into a raw, minimalist backdrop to artisanal ingenuity. This impressive project looks to promote local design and foster exchanges while honouring the history of the site and its industrial past.

Two unique ways to enjoy the experience

This is an exhilarating moment! We have spent the past year reflecting on how best to bring the SOUK back to Montréal – how we can preserve its essence but also chart an innovative direction from here into the future. For the 19th edition, visitors will meet an exciting new generation of designers – creations will pique curiosity, exceptional objects will be discovered, and discourse will rise – but they will still recognize its soul.” Azamit, Founder of the SOUK, in a press release.

Breathing new life into Montréal neighbourhoods, SOUK’s beating heart

From the onset, SOUK has been committed to the revitalization of Montréal's thriving neighbourhoods and boroughs; for this edition, the SOUK expands to Mile Ex, a sector of the city that is both on the rise and very discreet, rendering it both mysterious and intriguing. In recent years, the area has become home to a number of renowned restaurants and cafés, as well as to some of the world's leading technology companies.

The SOUK experience with a capital “S”

Year after year, the pinnacle of Montréal design, SOUK devotees and newcomers alike come together for this annual event. The 2023 edition features over 65 designers, carefully selected by a panel of new appointed expert jury members, to showcase their expertise and unique products in an exceptional setting.

At the same time, visitors can take advantage of a rich and varied program of events including workshops, round tables and personalized guided event tours. A new pop-up boutique has also been included in this 19th edition, offering a more diversified range of products to suit all budgets and tastes.

Gastronomy also plays an important role in the "SOUK" experience. Soon to be announced, Montréal restaurant partners will be on site to showcase their multiple talents and creativity with locally sourced products in a pop-up restaurant. A café and lounge bar complete the culinary picture.

Get ready to be impressed!
