National Bank Open 101

The NBO is a Tennis Canada owned and operated world-class tournament which is celebrating the 143rd anniversary of their men’s ATP tournament (their 131st women’s WTA event is being simultaneously held in Toronto this year). The NBO is the third-oldest title in tennis, behind only Wimbledon and the US Open, and the oldest tennis tournament that is not a Grand Slam.

Fans are reminded that, due to the Paris 2024 Olympics schedule, the NBO will start and end one day later than usual this year, with the first day of qualifying on Sunday, August 4, the main draw to commence on Tuesday, August 6, and the singles and doubles finals taking place on Monday, August 12.

Beginning in 2025, the NBO expands to a 12-day main draw event and adopts a structure closer to the one employed by the Grand Slams, growing from 56-player fields to 96 players, with the exception of Olympic years. The NBO will also offer equal prize money to women and men starting in 2027.
