Getting to Montréal

Montréal is an international destination of choice, easily accessed by land, water and air (downtown is a mere 20 miles or 20 kilometres from the YUL Montréal-Trudeau International Airport). To plan your arrival:

Maison de la Presse, Montréal-Trudeau Airport

1. Maison de la Presse

This Montréal-made chain of magazine and book stores is peppered all over the city, including in the heart of the Montréal-Trudeau International Airport’s international zone, near Gate 57. You’ll find a different collection of readables here than in your average chain — lots of Québec literature, local magazines and cookbooks by Montréal’s famous chefs, like Chuck Hughes and Ricardo.

2. La Fabrique de Bagel Montréal

You missed your chance to taste one of the city’s most famous foods? No problem, La Fabrique de Bagel will fulfill all your cravings. Order a dozen fresh-baked bagels for home or chow down on the spot — in the public area in the departure zone — on wood-fired bagels with lox and a selection of cream cheese spreads.

3. Café Montréal Bagel

Dressed up to look like a roadside coffee truck, this fun café located in the international zone right by Gate 52 also serves up great coffee, salads and bagelwiches starring their specialty: Montréal bagels baked fresh daily.

4. BALNEA Spa Voyage

An offshoot on one of Québec’s most popular spas, this shop and spa offers a way to bring a little local relaxation away with you. Stop by before your flight in the international zone (near Gate 53) and indulge in a half-hour chair massage or a manicure, or just stock up on their beautiful natural wellness products.

La Biscuitery, Montréal-Trudeau Airport

5. La Biscuitery

Montréal-made indulgence awaits you in the international zone right by Gate 52, at this cookie boutique. All made from family recipes without white sugar, preservatives or artificial flavours, these cookies are scrumptious enough to buy for the plane, for home and for friends.

6. Pork & Pickle

Ah, smoked meat, how we love thee. Get a last taste of this Montréal delicacy served on rye with yellow mustard (and don’t forget the dill pickle!) at this restaurant featuring a wood-fire smoker in the domestic zone (by Gate 3) before you fly home. Or take it to-go and enjoy it mid-flight — you’ll feel like you never left.

7. L’Auberge Saint-Gabriel

This offshoot of one of Old Montréal’s most famous fine dining establishments is an excellent place to savour a meal and cheers a successful trip as you kill some time before a flight. Whether for brunch, lunch or dinner, it’s a 5-star perk of flying via the international zone.

Montréal – Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport

8. Duty Free

Everyone loves the duty free! Explore local delicacies for less at Duty Free in the international zone: you’ll find a selection of Québec ice wines, ciders, chocolates, cosmetics and accessories including leather goods and jewellery by Montréal designers.
