In spring, summer or fall, biking is one of the best ways to explore Montréal – and it's easy to rent a bike in the city if you don't have your own. From new road and mountain bikes to electric bikes, scooters and BIXI, Montréal bike rental and tour experts are ready to help you discover Montréal on two wheels – and even rediscover sides of the city you've never seen before.

Rent bikes from the best

Explore Montréal on a high-quality, new rental bike from bike rental shops big and small. In the Old Port, tour company Montréal On Wheels rents new road bikes, tandems, hybrid bikes and child carriers. Near the Atwater Market and Lachine Canal, rent bikes from Ma Bicyclette. Also near the Lachine Canal is Allo Vélo, which offers a selection of top-notch European bikes and gear, all ready and set to peddle along the expansive network of urban bike paths. For families, Allo Velo is the only company in Montréal to rent electric cargo bikes which seat up to four children, between 1 and 6 years old, safely.

In the Plateau neighbourhood, check out Fitz Montréal Bike Tours and Spade & Palacio for both tours and comfortable rental bikes of all sizes, as well as La Bicycletterie JR for bike rentals.

Add zip to your ride at Jusst, specialists in electric bikes and scooters as well as conventional bicycles. At Parc Jean-Drapeau and in the Old Port, go to Ecorecreo to rent quadricycles and electric bikes or even go on a guided Segway tour. Or take to the open water on Ecorecreo's pedal boats and kayaks (and if you're feeling the need for speed, hop on a jet ski with Wet Set MTL!).

Take a two-wheeled tour

Guided bike tours of Montréal, including private tours, combine sight-seeing with exercise and historical knowledge of the city, from Old Montréal and the Lachine Canal to the Plateau and other neighbourhoods known for their distinctly Montréal style. Fitz Montréal offers private and group bike tours of essential sights and hidden gems, plus neighbourhood walking tours. Spade & Palacio takes riders on a variety of themed tours “beyond the bike lanes” as well as “non-touristy” walking tours. Ride with Montréal On Wheels to hear about the history of city sights or book a personalized private tour for yourself or your family.

Be your own tour guide on a visit to one of the city's large nature parks or take a boat ride with Navark, welcoming bikes on board for trips from Boucherville to Îles-de-Boucherville, Lachine to Châteauguay and Notre-Dame-de-l’Île-Perrot to Pointe-des-Cascades. Explore more of Montréal on two wheels with our guide to all things biking and bike rides perfect for visitors.

Ride with BIXI

A no-nonsense way to get from A to B in Montréal, bike-sharing system BIXI has hundreds of stations across the city – you can rent bikes at the station itself or through the BIXI app. Meant for shorter commutes, BIXI pedal bikes and electric bikes are adjustable, fitted with lights and available from April through to November. Note that while the same road rules apply to BIXI riders as they do to all other cyclists in Montréal, electric bike riders must by law wear a helmet due to the speeds the bikes can reach (up to 32 km/hr).

Happy and safe biking!
